Course evaluations are important in the assessment loop. Students are receiving feedback from faculty consistently through support and grades. How are faculty receiving the feedback? Evaluate will help close that loop. Evaluate is not only collecting feedback for Tenure & Promotion, but also to inform how to improve the course material and instructional quality. So once the data is collected what is done with it?
At The highest level the response rated are at the top of mind. More feedback is better. There are many reasons for that. It shows student engagement. It also gives a voice to those that may not otherwise give opinions (positive and negative). And, a higher response rate allows for more validity to the data and anonymity for the participants. How to increase participation is the age old question for surveys.
Putting all of the information together is what is most important. What does the information from Evaluate tell about the institution? Mean analysis can be completed on individual questions that are at the core of the survey. This report can give a bigger picture of trends at an institution.
